I'm going snowboarding for the first time on Monday and I'm worried about my knees. They don't hurt enough to warrant taking prednisone on a regular basis, but they start hurting when I bend them pretty far, so I'm really worried about how they will handle snowboarding. Another concern is even though most days I'm only in a small amount of pain, some random days I will wake up with a lot of knee pain-enough that I can barely walk. So my question is, would taking prednisone for the couple of days before my trip cut down on my knee pain? I rarely use it so I'm not sure if it's the type of drug that needs to build up in your system or if I will get immediate relief. I have 5 mg tablets, but I think my rheumy told me I could take up to 20 mg. My next rheumy appt isn't for 3 more weeks and he seems to be on a perpetual vacation so I can never get ahold of him. I've wanted to snowboard for years and I had to pass it up last winter for this same reason, so I'm pretty desperate to try it this winter. Thanks so much for reading and I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
