Drug induced colitis from plaquenil?

My gastrointestinal Dr said the colon biopsy came back showing a drug induced colitis caused by my plaquenil and my rheumatologist agrees. She wants me to go off the plaquenil for a few weeks and see if that helps me to not get sick after I eat. I've been on it for almost three years and have been doing good, not tired, no rash, hardly any aches or pains. I'm afraid of what it'll do to me if I stop, especially if it doesn't make my stomach issues subside.

Really???? Did you take the name brand or generic? How long were you on plaquenil?? Are you on other meds that could be causing it like NSAIDS??? I had problems with generic plaquenil giving me some diarrhea so I got the name brand. To hear this scares me b/c I just had to have surgery for colitis back in Nov. and my rheumy didn't think this drug would be a problem for me. I couldn't take it when I had the colitis because it made it a lot worse! Now after my surgery and taking name brand plaq, I seem ok. Good luck to you!
