well,she said it could be lupus...its been positive for 2 years now.says shes gunna do blood tests.I told her my friends markers never showed till later,and I have almost all the symptoms,so she says"yes,it could be".I sure will be nice to get a diagnoses.One way or the other.I told her my pain managemebt doc says its lupus and she cant really do anything as she needs to have a diagnoses.My spelling sucks..its kinda like I write backwards.I know what I want to write,but it all gets scrambled.So,Im still on plaquenil,off the elavil...trying melotonin for sleep,and see her in 2 months.Anybuddee take melotonin for sleep?how much and hows it workin?still have my machine.

I'm on 5mg of melotonin every night. I have to take it about an hour before it kicks in for me. I have to go to sleep no later than 9:30 so I take it at 8:30.
I sleep with a Cpap, too. I hate it when my nose is stuffy with allergies.
I get "the fog" a lot too. I'm resorting to notes to keep me on track.

I don't think fog even comes close to what I am feeling right now but I am in the middle of the diagnosis stage. I feel like my body is mad at me inside and out. I am interested in what this Paquinil is because you all seem to be on it. I hope I can take it because I have had gastric bypass and am limited on what I can take but if I can I would try anything right now. I am job interviewing right now and when I have to shake hands it is a religious expreience because my right hand hurts so bad it is bringing me closer to God! LOL I ache in my Hand and shoulders so badly.......boy howdy. It seems every week I begin to ached in a new area. I have noticed that everyone seems to have a hard time getting a diagnosis......anyone have a reason as to why that is?

Lupus is the great mimic. You never know what it's going to pretend to be next.
My flares have looked like a sinus infection, bad back, tendonitis, bladder infections, gastroenteritous, and the flu (not all at the same time, TG).

Plaquenil is a DMARD. (Disease Modifying Anti-rhuemertic Drug)
It is usually used as an anti-malaria treatment, but they have found out if used a longer time at a stronger dose it can help a person with Lupus or RA.
It relieves painful joints, swelling, fatigue, and helps with the fog some.

I remember the painful hands and avoiding shaking hands during my diagnosis stage. I couldn't even hold a glass at times. I felt like a zombie who couldn't stand anything to touch me. Even the weight of the bed sheet hurt my toes.

well Ive been on melotonin for 4 days..I dont know whether Im sleeping or just resting.I now have majoe eye pain and sinus hurt.My eyes burn so bad they water.Yeah,I had to go get a coupkle things and I couldnt even stand to hold my purse.so I dunno if its the melotonin or a flare.Feel sick too.Ok..Im going to lay my noggin down....k..talk later.

Try doing some sun avoidance and see if it helps.
Broad spectrum sunscreen
SPF protected clothes and hat
UVA protective sunglasses

Fluorescent lighting can also give off UVA/UVB rays that can make us feel ill.
