Cytoxin, anyone?

Hey gang,

My rheumy is likely going to switch me from methotrexate to cytoxin come December. 

Is anyone taking cytoxin? 

Via IV or pills? 

Have you experienced any significant hair loss, or other symptoms?

I have a relative who took a course of it via weekly IV for pemphigus, and he said it worked great.

Hey! Sorry, I had responded earlier but I guess the post didnt show up. I have done Cytoxan 2 different times. The most recent I had my last infusion Last Wed. Each time it has been through an IV and plan to be there at least half a day. They will give you IV Fluids, IV Zofran (to protect the bladder), IV mesna, then IV Cytoxan, More IV Mesna and will continue to recieve fluids the whole time.

When I did Cytoxan 2 years ago, it was for 8 months once a month. I had low WBC, lost my hair, nausea, fatigue. What are you switching to Cytoxan for? I would personally try cellcept before Cytoxan but not sure why you are going to get it!

What other questions do you have?

RE: your question, unfortunately the methotrexate doesn't seem to be working.  I am still having kidney problems, joint pain and water retention, which has been ongoing for almost a year now. 

Nothing's written in stone, and I have about 2 weeks until my rheumy appointment, so maybe the methotrexate will start working!
