I just got finished reading a website from John Hopkins Lupus Center and it said to not take Melentonin (sp?). It said it could trigger flares by affecting the immune system.

I take 5mg every night.

What's worse I just bought 2 bottles.

p.s. It also said no garlic or alfalfa sprouts.

hey tater!thats so wild.Ive been taking it as the doc recommended it,said it would be ok when I mentioned it.I take 5mg too.And Ive been feeling rotten!major fog and I dont think Ive felt as bad in 3 years!Thanks for the info.Gunna just take a gravol once in awhile I guess.

I forgot they also mentioned no echinana (sp?).

I guess if it boosts your immune system leave it alone or it can set off flares.

Lupus means you have an OVERactive immune system. The meds the Drs give us are to (hopefully) bring our systems back down to normal.

Taking things to boost OR to suppress the immune system is just upsetting the normal balance that the doctors are working so very hard to obtain. Never ever take anything that even mentions the immune system without checking it out thoroughly AND talking to your doctor about it.
