Well great news, I slept and slept last night!

I was looking up some information to get a shell fish license when the page showed endangered species so of course, I got side tracked and started looking at all the endangered species of both animals and plants.

Come to find out there's an endangered daisy. Oddly enough, the willamette daisy happens to be in my yard. So I got thinking, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to make starts off of those wild daisy so I can save the daisies. I actually thought it out.

My plan:  Grow starts off of the willamette daisy

               Transplant when healthy and big into the wild

              

My goal: Produce enough to plant around town, because if I put like 10 in one spot, 10 in another spot, etc etc, they will or so I think they will spread their own seed and begin the circle of life for the daisies.  I think the seeds go air born, hence, if I can get around town planting them then over the massive years they will spread around other cities to  more states, eventually producing them enough to get away from being endangered.

I've been disabled for years, but chose to work as a CNA til recently. My health won't let me do much, but I know it will let me garden. We're planning to put up a green house this summer anyhow, so I thought it was the perfect project.  Last summer I had 3 lavendars (in pots so they dont go crazy), 5 mints (again in pots), 8 tomatoes plants, 2 thai peppers, 2 green peppers, 1 snap dragon, 2 pansies, lettuce, etc etc. I litterly had a plastic table outside and put a partian thing on it to make the table two layers and had a table garden.

So do any of you have ideas how to grow starts off of daisies?

Hi Smurfy!  I'd like to say "bravo" to your plan!  Also would like to recommend a Children's book titled "Miss Rumphius" by Barbara Cooney.  It's a wonderful story (it's my 32 yr old daughter's favorite from her childhood - mine, too) and it's kept prominantly in the bookcase. 

As to the Williamette daisy - I don't really know anything specific.  Shasta daisies, I believe, have root runners that spread underground, but I am certainly not sure about that, either.  Just know they spread like the dickens.  Either way - seed or root runners - they are hardy multipliers.  So I wonder why the Williamettes are in danger?

Anyway - good luck with your project.  I love gardening, and hate that with my back problems and connective tissue disorder, sun sensitivity, fatigue and yadayada, I have had to give the bulk of it up.  Still plant some few vegies and keep a small flower garden, but I have to depend on my husband for the heavy bending and weeding (he's a good sport).  I'm actually considering putting a raised bed this year in a new livestock water trough.  My massage therapist has one and it's the perfect height and fine for the back yard.  Also - am determined to have a tabletop fairy garden someday.  I also love mosses and tiny leafed plants.

You know I was looking at ebay at the green houses, anyhow some of them come with shelves. I was thinking maybe you can do something like that, because then you dont have to bend down for the veggies and fruits. I've seen the raised flower beds and they are good, except you still have to bend. If anyone eats icecream, I live in the well known cow country brand and we have livestock number 2s which is a great fertilizer.
