By law, even in an ER visit a patient can have a second medical opinion. I've done that in ER's and they get pretty ticked off, but know you mean business and will try to give you a line about
it can take a long time to get another doctor because you are turning this one down. In my case, I had a bad migraine, bloodsugar (diabetic) was low and I overheard the doctor telling the nurse to UA me for drugs and I probably just wanted to get narcotics. So I turned around and called the nurse back in my room and told her "I want a second medical opinion. By law I am entitled one. Oh by the way, I also work health care, except I am home care and no I am not some drug addict seeking drugs." She gave me the line that it can be awhile I said "Well then expect to call a code blue and call the morgue and I will in the meantime write down you are refusing me medical care which is illegal and my bloodsugar 69 so when I go comatose my family will know whom is at fault" You can tell they hated me. Next doctor came, "oh how are you? I had you last time you were here." "not good, got another migraine doctor and the last doctor thinks I'm some refuse case seeking drug addicts. You know me, I always want to try no nartoc ways first." "you want your usual? I'll speak to that doctor" "yes please, thank you" "ok the nurse will bring it right in" and then I was given my shots of naseau meds and a pain releiver.
By the way, a person can have as many "second" medical opinions they want
