Another kidney test

I've got to go get another stinking kidney test. mad

This last test I had 2 weeks ago has several abnormal flags on my UA.

  • cloudy
  • 1+ protein
  • 2+ ketones
  • wbc high
  • rbc high
  • epithelial cells (non renal) high
  • casts present-hyaline cast type
  • crystals present-calcium oxalate
  • mucus threads present
  • bacteria moderate
  • protein total 18 high
  • bun 14
  • egfr 81

She said she couldn't figure me out because I keep showing up positive for protein spills but when I do the 24 hr there's hardly any trace.

Do you accidentally eat differently before an appointment vs doing a 24-hr collection? That's all I can think of...sometimes we unconsciously moderate our behavior when we know someone is watching it closely....

I'm actually eating healthier now than when I did the 24 hr 5 months ago.

When I do a catch there is a high protein, but the 24 hour one is less protein.
It's so strange. She thinks someone is messing up at the lab on the testing.

i was in and out of the emergency room last week with bad flare ups. i would get the usual pain shot and a steroid shot and they'd let me go. i got fed up with them not doing anything so i went to another hospital. there they did blood work and a urine test. the doctor said my kidneys were filled with infection (pus) and not working as they should. so some of that infection was going to my joints...so he gave me a rx. for antibiotics. i'm not in pain anymore but i wonder if this is Lupus attacking my kidneys or just a regular infection caused by drinking to much pepsi, which has stopped btw.

the doctor didnt seem too worried but he didn't say if it was the Lupus. i hate not knowing!

Sounds like a infection. And your amount of protein spillage is super small. I have been 3000+. Also, if you are not drinking enough or eating foods high in protein, that can happen! BUN and function look good!

I have no pain or burning. I drink nothing but water now. My diet is now high protien and low carbs. I get my carbs from carb dense veggies and fruit.

My doctors are driving me crazy! @@
