Hi Everyone,

So my Rheumatologist is leaving the area at the end of the month and the other part-time person is also leaving. I am feeling a little depressed tonight. Change, once again. This will be the fifth Rheumatologist in twelve years. Living in a rural, isolated area is fabulous, but it has obvious drawbacks, like health care. I will be needing to find someone in the Santa Rosa, California area. That's about a four hour drive from where I live. Crazy, huh???? But with my wonderful primary doctor, I know I will be able to manage. I was wondering if anyone in the forum knows of a good doctor in the Santa Rosa area. Any suggestions would be incredible helpful.

That's a total bummer, I know how hard it is to change Dr. I always hated it when we moved or my military Dr's had to move away. I wish I knew of someone in your area, but I don't. My sister in law is a Dr up in Redding, but she's a brand new Dr and I'm not sure if she knows anyone.

I hope that your Primary Care can keep you healthy and helps you find a Dr to take over your care as far as your lupus goes. I know that feeling depressed over this is a natural reaction. I hope that you find someone soon and I hope that the depression lessens quickly.

You have my number and email. You're welcome to call or email me any time at all. I'm not a lot of help, but I can listen. I hope all the other aspects in your life are going alright. I'll try to email you this weekend. Take care of yourself and make sure you get plenty of rest.

Hi Laura. I'm sorry your rheumy is leaving and yes 4 hours is a looooong drive. I don't know anyone in your area. Perhaps lupus.org can help. I recently switched rheumys after 6 years and I love my new rheumy. He's the most intelligent doc I've met since my lupus diagnosis in 2005, plus he gives me hugs when I'm down smilewinkgrin I hope that when you find a new rheumy he/she is a good as mine. Love, Donna

Hi Donna and Barbara,

Thank-you for your wonderful words and wisdom. I did get the name of a woman in Santa Rosa and a referral from my previous Rheumatologist. My primary doctor is an incredible woman and really willing to work with me, so that helps. I am also on another Prednisone decrease....down to 7 mg every other day currently. The goal is to get me to 5 mg. every other day, which I hope I can do!!!! We'll see how I feel in a week. Yesterday was difficult due to the weather change and wet damp that draped curtains over the redwood trees. We area desperate for water, so it's a good thing. Too bad rain water can't heal what ails me :). Love you guys!!
