Hi everyone. I’ve written before about my mystery ear pain, in conjunction with my other lupus like symptoms… I’ve been the ENT three times, had tests done and she has no clue what is wrong with me. I also have IBS and my GI “diagnosed” me with a wheat allergy via blood test. He sent me to an allergist to further explore that.
Well, I told the allergist about my ears, my “wheat allergy” and my severe reaction to mosquito bites. He did a skin test and basically told me that I am NOT allergic to wheat, that the blood test was wrong but that I have “severe environmental allergies” that could be causing Eustachian tube dysfunction. I am going to start allergy shots in a few weeks that will hopefully help that situation.
My partner, however, still insists that I have lupus. This week, I have come home every night from work and gone straight to bed (I usually run 3-4 miles after work), still have terrible bruising, swelling, hearing loss, ear pain, and pre-menstrual hell on earth. If anything, the allergy shots will help me rule allergies out as the cause. We are both really hopeful that the shots might help with my ear pain which is becoming more and more unbearable.
In the meantime, I am still on the lookout for a good rheumatologist in my area who has some expertise in Lupus. No luck yet.
Has anyone ever done the Lupus Walk? I see one coming up in my area for September, but I can’t find any info on the length of the walk.
