misdiagnosed?

I was newly diagnosed a week ago with lupus. I had a positive ANA of 1:1280 homogeneous . I also meet criteria of joint pain, mouth ulcers, headaches, fatigue, skin rashes ( possible malar maybe rosacea), and past history of pleurisy. However, they did more specific labs last week which have all come back normal except ANA which remains the same. The RNP antibody, Smith antibody, anti double stranded dna, complements all negative. Also my basic lab work and urine all came back within normal limits. I know that blood work is only one component of the diagnosis however, everything I read says complements should be depressed and that the anti double strand is very specific for SLE. The doctor stared me on Plaqeunil as of our first visit last week prior to doing the more specific labs. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know everyone's lupus is different however, it seems odd that everything else would be normal. Thank you.

I'm in the same boat, Rachel. I was diagnosed last week. I had a positive ANA in December plus joint/ligament pain and horrible fatigue. I also had mouth sores and headaches. My primary sent me to a rheumatologist who said that he didn't think I had lupus. He ran a bunch of blood tests in January and they all came back normal (except for my kidney function test which was low and my vitamin D which was very low). In February, I was diagnosed with Raynaud's. I also began having severe sun sensitivity and broke out in a rash that spread from my collar bone, up my neck and then onto my face. I returned for a follow up with the rheumatologist last week with photos of the old rash and a new rash across my collar bone. He found inflammation in a few joints and based on that, positive ANA, sun sensitivity, malar rash (which I thought could be rosacea) he diagnosed me with Lupus and started me on Plaquenil and a blood pressure medicine (the Raynaud's has gotten really severe and my toes were almost black in his office). I keep wondering if I actually have Lupus since most of my blood tests look fine. Maybe I'm just in denial.
