Hi I'm new to the chat. I have been diagnosed with lupus for 13 yrs. I have just started taking Imuran. If anyone is on the drug or have previously taken the drug what are the side effects? How did it work or didn't work for you? thanks.

I took Imuran without having any side effects. Unfortunately it didn't work for me and I had to move on to Cellcept. Imuran does work for some people -- we don't know why or how these drugs work so it might be your magic pill! I believe we gave it about 6 months before deciding it wasn't helping me. So hang in there!

Hello and welcome!
Please keep in mind that everyone reacts differently. That said, I had a severe negative reaction to Imuran. Severe headache, muscle aches and weakness to the point that i needed assistance walking. I was immediate taken off the Imuran and then switched to Cellcept. That did the trick.

I am not trying to scare you in any way. From what I have read on this board, many people have had success with Imuran. I wish you well.
