Gallbladder polyps!

Of all things for Lupus to throw at me. I went in to have a US of my stomach because I was hurting in my spleen area. Every thing was normal except I have polyps in my gallbladder! mad

So now I have to see my primary to see if he's going to send me to a surgeon. nono

Polyps are rare and have a chance of becoming cancer. skull So 9 times out of ten they remove the gallbladder. I see many $$$$$$ going out of my purse. eyes

Sorry you are having gallbladder trouble.

I had my gallbladder removed at about 5 years into my Lupus journey, due to gallstones. They were able to do it laparoscopically, with no complications. I don't think I even had to spend a night in the hospital, and as I recall insurance covered it all.

They never said anything about it being related to Lupus, though. Did they really tell you these polyps are lupus-related??

I haven't discussed this with my doctor yet. I managed to get the report early because he's on vacation right now.

I assume since lupus attacks organs this was part for the course.

I found out today my grandfather died from gallbladder cancer so it might be in my genes to get polyps.

Sorry to hear you're having gallbladder issues. I have never heard of gallbladder polyps, I guess there's not much that surprises me regarding Lupus. I too have had my gallbladder removed, for me it was a part of the doctors trying to figure out where the massive pain in my side was coming from when I began this journey of diagnosis 20+ years ago. I did have laparoscopic surgery, may have spent one night in the hospital and insurance covered the surgery.

I was finally able to call my doctor's office and asked what is his plans for me. His nurse called me back and asked who gave me the report. I explained I had picked it up at the hospital like I always do. She said I wasn't supposed to have that report. (WHAT?!)
She promptly read off the report from the radiologist they had. Everything was fine and that I had no gallbladder polyps. Of course, I'm doubtful. This is coming from a doctor who told me my ALP was borderline high (256 is 10X too high) and my other enzymes being over twice the normal range was fine.

I'm going doctor hunting tomorrow. There's a new one in a nearby town accepting new patients. It's a 45 minute drive, but I'm willing if he's good.

Hi Everyone reading all this is very helpful. I just wanted to note symptoms on here see if anyone else is feeling the same. I am worried because I have been have a stabbing pain on my under my right shoulder blade and I feel like someone is pulling on my back right side its my shoulder straight down to my shoulder blade. I feel the constant stabbing pain right under my shoulder blade. He anyone had these symptoms. My stomach growls really loud and I can hear it its mostly my right side. slight pain in the front and its always right after I eat. In January 2016 I got the pain but thought it was stress so I was doing massages on my back. But this last month the pain is lingering. Well anyway I went to doc a month ago and said it was GERD gave me meds to control. and I was doing massages on my back shoulder. But one weekend recently the pain was bad and the pain radiated to my right rib cage. Feeling nausea I am only eating veggies and oatmeal have lost 10 lbs. Anyway found polyps in my gallbladder and my doc sent me to surgeon to schedule my surgery. But the surgeon said polyps don't cause that pain :( so now I was really scared and confused. I still have to have it removed because of the polyps but I feel like I have all the symptoms that it is my gallbladder giving me that pain. I also cant lay flat on my bed because that makes my pain worse.

If a gallbladder is symptomatic then it's best to get it removed.

I had my gllbladder removed in 2012 as well with no history of gallbladder issues in my family. It was so inflamed that the surgeon had to empty it before he could remove it. Now I have sphincter of oddi dysfunction which we recently discovered after i had hand surgery . I reacted to tylenol 3 with codiene with excruciating spasms and pain that felt like my gallbladder was back and very angry!

I was told that codiene, morphine etc will cause the sphincter of oddi to spasm terribly for some after gallbladder removal so i wanted to share that. Be wary of pain meds if you have had your gallbladder removed.

I know this is late, i hope you have more answers Joy about your gallbladder. i'm left hand typing with one finger so i'm lazy with my capitals lol
