Extreme sunny and facial pain

Having a flare up due to sunshine,does anyone relate to me.

Extreme pain and burning plus itching.Have applied antihistamine cream and taken one Claritin.

It's very painful and no redness yet.

This is very very disabling for me .

Can't seem to walk in sun at all.

Sun is one of our worst enemies as lupus and if you're not in a flare can send you into one. I use Obligie Sunscreen SPF 50, it's a bit on the expensive side, but it's awesome. Doctors have researched there really is no need for more than SPF 50 if you have the right spectrums, apply enough and often.

I also never go out no matter what time of year unless I am fully covered head to toe, because I get so sick from even UVA/B lighting put off from fluorescent lighting in stores.

I have absolutely learned all of this from experiencing the trials and tribulations of what you are describing.

I'm like that. I buy my clothes with built in sunblock. You can find them at any outdoors supply place or my personal favorite coolibar.com.

I buy their tees and hats. I even wear their gloves.

Sunlight exposure ,spicy food is major trigger for me .

Trying to stay indoors when it's sunny and taking antihistamine.

Might have to go to planquenil during flares otherwise.

Clothes with SPf are extremely expensive for me ,might try when I have a job.

Skin is damaged from so many flares...

Plaquenil should be taken continually, not just during flares. It takes 2-3 months to build to a therapeutic dose - it you only take it during flares it really won't be of much help.

Sunshine and fluorescent lighting both do this to me. Many people do not realize it but fluorescent lighting actually emits UV rays and can make a person who is sensitive to the sun feel bad.

Make sunscreen a part of your daily routine. RIT also makes a sunscreen that you can wash your regular clothing in to make them UV protective, they sell it on Amazon.
