So after a week of trying to avoid catching my husband's cold I've caught it anyway. On top of the cold my throat is raw and red and my lymph nodes in my neck are swollen. I'm also running a 101.0 fever. Of course my small joints ache like it's cold and raining outside, which it's not. Its 65 degrees and sunny. (Florida). So here's my question, what cold medicines are safe for me to take. I was diagnosed with SLE the 15th of February. So I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the dos and donts for my body with with this disease. I have echenasia (spelling is wrong I'm sure.) It's the herb that helps jump starts your ammuine system when you first get a cold. Can I take that? Is it safe? Can I take zicam or any of the cold medicine s that help shorten your cold? I really need the advice from those of you who have been doing this for awhile. This is actually the first cold I've had in almost a year. Last year was lots of infections in my blood, a couple of viruses and July was a horrible intro to shingles all down my left leg that burnt like fire for four weeks. I don't want this to turn into another flare. I had three flares last year that turned into hospital stays that lasted 4 to 7 days. So if I can take the echanasia or something like it, some kind of cold medicine that might shorten this cold and avoid a flare. Thank You All in advance for your help with this.
