Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and this is my first posting. I am 44 and have had lupus for about 8+ yrs now. My rheumatologist started me on Rituxan last August for the first time and it lasted for about 5 months before it wore off. I had a second Rituxan tx 1 month ago and haven't seen any response to it this time. I actually am having a lupus flare currently, joint pain, swelling,ha's low grade temps, fatigue etc. I have cns involvement, Migraines,Raynauds and Some neuropathy of my hands and feet and Depression. My rheumie decided to have me take cellcept again to see if that helps. Has anyone on this forum been treated with Rituxan and had poor response to it, just wondering if rituxan is a one time wonder drug. Please let me know your opinions or experiences that you have had.

Hi Lpiegrl,

  Welcome to the forum. I have seen some others talk about Rituxan. I have never taken it myself, but I'm sure the ones that have will come along to give their experience with it.

  It sounds like you are in a nasty flare right now. I hope the Cellcept works for you this time and you will start feeling alot better soon. Please keep us updated and take care. Hope to hear from you again soon. You will be in my prayers.

I'm in kind of the same boat you are. I had my first rituxan treatments six months ago and I responded really well to it and I was improving. After about 5-6 months it started wearing off. I had my second treatments last month and honestly I think I may be flaring a bit. I've had some joint pain and fatigue the past few weeks which I haven't had in a while.

I am going in for labs this friday though and then an appointment with my rheumy on the 13th. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the second treatment starts to kick in.

It did help me taper the prednisone a bit, so I hope I don't have to bump that up either!

I HAVE LUPUS AND THEN WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER.  AFTER I FINISHED MY TREATMENT FOR CANCER MY CANCER DOCTOR GAVE ME RITUXIN FOR MY LUPUS.  IT LASTED FOR A YEAR AND 6 MO.  I WAS HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH THE CANCER AND I KNEW THE LUPUS WAS COMING BACK .   I HAD A FLARE UP.   IT TOOK ME OVER AN HOUR TO GET DOWN MY STAIR.  I HAD THE TREATMENT FOR THE SECOND TIME AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED AS WELL AS THE FIRST TIME   THAT WAS 6 MONTHS AGO.   I DO NOT SEE MY LUPUS DOCTOR AT ALL ANY MORE HAVE TAKEN MAYBE 10  PAIN PILLS IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS.  BEFORE I WAS ON PREDIZONE AND CELLEBREX AND TOOK AT LEAST 10  PAIN PILLS A DAY.  THERE WAS SOMETHING ELSE HE GAVE ME WITH THE RITUXIN 1 WEEK LATER BUT I CAN NOT REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT   IT TAKES about 3 HOURS AND I HAVE TO TAKE IT IN TWO SESSIONS TWO WEEKS APART.

I'm not on the meds. you are taking , I just wanted to welcome you.. sorry to hear you are having so much trouble, I hope you will get something that will work for you!!!

Hi pigletgrl,

I have no experience with Rituxan, however I did take CellCept for a while & I was amazing. I felt so much better while on it. Unfortunately I had some serious side effects, but others here have taken it with equal success. Good luck!
