Well I went to my local LFA support group today. It seems that it may have been canceled however there were a couple of other ladies there and we decided to sit down and talk. I had never met anyone else in person with Lupus besides my two cousins so it was really nice to talk to people in person that can relate to you. I did promote the site so maybe we will see new members. :-)

That's pretty much all I did today. My plan was to stop on the way home and grab a bite to eat and maybe run an errand or two. That didn't happen and I wasn't in the mood to eat anything so I bought a candy bar that I have been picking at all day. I have no appetite right now and probably wouldn't have eaten the candy bar except that I had to take my meds. I have slept a total of 6 hours today from the time I got up this morning until now. Fatigue is hitting hard. I just noticed a bruise developing on my upper arm on the inside which I don't know how I got. It doesn't hurt at all which is really weird. Does anyone else get unexplained bruises that don't hurt?

Hi Des, well that's cool you got to meet some other lupies in the flesh! I'm sorry you aren't feeling well I hope you can get some sleep tonight. I get a lot of weird things on my body but mostly lots of spider veins. I have heard people on here mention that you can get bruises easily from prednisone. I I don't see that listed on your meds.

Thanks Carol... yeah thats the weird thing, I'm not on Prednisone or any other immunosuppressants.

Des, a live lupus support group could be real helpful. Do you plan to return?

I get bruises all over my body, but then I'm on prednisone. They pop up in the strangest places and typically I have no memory of having hit or bumped that area. My bruising is better since I tapered way down on the pred. That's something you should mention to your rheumy or your pcp.

Des, I'm glad you got to a support group. I want to go to one, but the closest one is an hour away and in the evening, so I haven't made one yet. I'm sorry you are feeling so worn out and fatigued. I get bruises a lot too, but I'm on prednisone. Even before prednisone I went through a stage where I bruised easily. I went to the doc about it who checked the clotting factor in my liver since problems with that can be associated with bruising. If the bruising keeps up you should get it checked, especially since you aren't on prednisone. I hope you got some sleep last night and that you can get lots of rest today. Hang in there and take care.

  ((Hugs)) I'm glad you got to meet some Lupus buddies. Hopefully, the next meeting will bring out more people.

   I'm sorry your feeling so bad. I hope you feel better soon. I do bruise easily as well. I find brusies and wonder how I got them too since they aren't painful, but I do take blood thinners.

Same here. But I am on Pred. I think this contributes a lot to my bruises. Some hurts and some don't. I don't even know if I bumped myself into anything to have these bruises.

Hi Des, I noticed you are on plaquenil and I get meds by mail thru the V.A. so I was reading all the side effects of it one sentence says:::::::::::::::::::::::See your dctor immediately if any of these rare but serious side effects occur nausea abdominal pain bleeding/bruising. Of course there are at least a dozen other things listed but I wanted to get to the part about bruising. So if you are still on plaq you need to mention the bruising to your doctor. If they shruge you off tell him/ her hey it says to tell you if this happens. So don't miss with me! Maybe they will actually read the phamplet. LOL of good ness I better go I'm grumpy!

I went to an LFA meeting in my area a month or so ago and was pleased with how well it went.  Felt good to meet someone in person with the same disease who "understood" what it feels like to be in our bodies.  Are you going to go again?  I'm planning on going again next month if I am not in too much pain and not too tired.

I also have "unexplainable" bruises every once in a while. The bruises I get are always in spots that are never usually easy to injure (like the inner part of my arms or my thighs).  I never have found out what causes them.  It is a mystery to my docs as well.  Mine can't be from prednisone or immunosuppressants either as I am not on any either.

I emailed my cousin that also has Lupus and told her about the bruising. She mentioned clotting which scared me but she has antiphospholipid syndrome with her Lupus and I don't have the antibodies so I doubt that is it. Thats curious about the Plaquenil but I will be sure to mention it to my doc. Like I said, it doesn't hurt and I only noticed it while in the shower. It is very small and it looks like the kind of bruise that you get when someone pinches you lol.

I'm definitely going to go to the meeting again. It was really nice and it got me out of the house which I would not have done since no one is home this weekend.

I'm still not feeling very good today which is why I haven't really been on too much today (that and its been storming on and off so computer was unplugged). I have had a continuous headache since this morning and nothing will touch it. Its mostly in the back and hurting my neck and jaw area. Oh the joys of living with all of this. Better stop before I start a pity party.

Des, just let me know the time and place for your pity party and I'll be sure to join you. I don't know whether I'm down or mad tonight, but this whole business of not being totally healthy is really getting to me this weekend. I think I'll take your lead and find a local support group. Just as you said, it would be a good reason for me to come out of hibernation. Don't you find that sometimes just the admission of wanting to start a pity party is enough to make you feel better? I'm so very grateful that you folks are all here for me or I think I might lose my mind.

I hope you determine the cause of your bruises.
