GOOD NEWS FROM RHEUMY!!!!

Well, my rheumy apt went well. I am officially in remission with the lupus. The fibro and the RA are okay but no remission on them. She took me off Imuran and placed me on 5mg of Pred a day. I will also be switched from Skelaxin to Flexeril. But otherwise all is well. She was pleased with how I am doing. She said lose what weight I can in the next month or two and then if I want a baby now is the time. Hubby and I very much want a baby. It would be a blessing for us.

Thanks. For us having a baby will be wonderful and painful at the same time. I have been pregnant 8 times. 6 with my first husband- 3 made it far enough to have a baby and I lost 1 to what they say was SIDS but may have been a metabolic disorder. 2 times with my current husband- our son died from a metabolic problem and the lupus caused the second pregnancy to fail- blood clot in the placenta. This time I am assured that with baby aspirin, advanced testing, and having the lupus under control my biggest problem will be my weak cervix which they can fix with a stitch placed at the proper time. I have wanted to try again for a while but it has been 5 years since my last pregnancy and 7 since our son was born and died. At least now we know that there is a metabolic problem in both families and that it affects boys more than girls. So we researched and found ways to stack the deck naturally in favor of a girl. I just hope it works because a boy would break my husband's heart a second time no matter that this time the outcome will be good (a special diet is all that is required and a glucose IV would have saved our son had the doctor cared enough to treat him or listen to me instead of thinking I was making it up). Sorry, it is that time of year again for me. The 5th will make it 11 years since my daughter died and December will make it 7 since my son died. I really dislike this time of year. Which is why good news is such a big deal. It is also why I was hoping that I would be cleared to get pregnant soon because I do not think I could handle a fall or winter birth.

I'm so glad you are in remission with lupus. Is that when they say your inflammatory stuff is down or is it something with ANA? At any rate I'm so glad you are feeling better and sounding back to your old self.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son because we have a similar problem that effects the adults in our family, but I know there are several metabolic glucose type disorders that affect babies at birth from looking at our stuff and they are so serious and I can't believe a pediatrician or neonatal specialist could be so awful. Actually, I do believe it. OUr medical system is so corrupt, and there are no avenues for malpractice anymore and licensing means little, with our greed culture, all anyone has their eyes on is the money. Medicine used to be a calling, like ministry.

The worst thing is when you know, you know darn well, that they are doing the wrong thing and they just give you that condescending smile and line of crap. OOOOh makes me mad.

Anyway, I feel so much for you and am so glad you seem to have gotten the pregnancy thing down by now. I always thought pregnancy was an autoimmune disease ;) It does feel like your body attacks itself sometimes, like there's a war going on!

Well, its so good to see you getting the care you have needed for so long now that you got your social security and the life you've deserved. Perhaps, not having to struggle so much has helped. Redrose, what a blessing for you - remission and a baby! Can you find a high risk obstetrician to see when you get pregnant? As you know, there are doctors and then there are doctors. There's no reason for you not to have the best, especially one who specializes in difficult pregnancies. I wish you all the best. It's about time!
