Itchy rash on forearms

I went out yesterday and sat in my car for some time i the strong sun - did not use sunscreen. I now have this awful itchy rash on my forearms. I put OTC hydrocortisone cream on it b4 bed last night but it is worse this morning. Do you think I should see my Rheumatologist or a dermatologist? It's itching bad and I am afraid I will scratch it till it bleeds.

Gloryroad, I get the rash on my arms too if they are exposed to the sun for any length of time. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the dermatologist might be your best bet for help, but also make sure your rheumy knows that you had such a bad reaction to the sun. I hope you get some relief soon. Take care

I also think a dermy would be your best bet. I'm thinking that a rheumy would send you that way anyway. I know that I get horrible problems on my arm and rashes. I have some steroid cream that I use occasionally but try not to use it too much because it can thin out the skin. It is a nice relief though when it gets to be too much.

See a dermy ASAP; I hate that itch rasy. It can just drive you nuts! Ask the dermy to write your rheumy a note about it. That way your rheumy has an "official" record of it. Just be sure to follow up by asking your rheumy if he/she got it. Good Luck!
