Sun Sensitivity??

Hello to all.

i was reding about the Lpus symptoms and I remember 2 summer when I was between 16-17 where I was "allergic" to the sun. My entire chest area got extremely red and itchy if I was even in the sun for a few minutes. I had to take Benadryl just to walk outside. Would this coumt as photosensetivity even though I no longer have a reaction as severe a his when I am in the sun? (I have a Sjogren's diagnosis at the moment though my Rheumy believes it could be Lupus as well. I had not ever mentioned the sun thing to him before though)

Also, does anyone else have a lowered body temp? for the past two years my normal temp has dropped from 98.6 to 97.9. Just wondering.

crmomo, I would definitely mention the sun sensitivity to your doc even if it's not as severe as it was when you were younger. What you described does sound like photosensitivity. I also have a lower than normal body temp. I've never heard of it being a lupus symptom but there are other people here with lower than normal body temps too. Having a lower body temp can make it harder to tell when you have a fever. Sometimes it helps to write all of these things down as you think of them so you can tell your doc on the next visit.

Yeap. I would also mention the sun sensitivty to your doc also. I do not know if lower body temp is related to lupus. I know that chronic fever is related to lupus. You might as well check with your doctor on your next visit.

Welcome to the forum crmomo!!! My photosensativity came and went for many years . . . like the others said, mention it to your doc and do keep an ongoing list of symptoms. You'll see things as you read here that you never even thought of as a symptom and these seemingly small things can really help the docs figure things out. Also note any mouth or nose sores. My temp is normally low too . . . although when I was young I always ran a high temp. Blessings!
