Well...I got sick yesterday, with the runs (yuck I know) and last night I had immeasurable pain in my stomach.  I didn't sleep and today I have the same pain. I'm nauseaus at all times, and then pain swarms in every 5 to 10 minutes, knocking me off my feet.

I'm in college so I called health services.  The nurse tells me I need to get to a hospital right away. I'm worried that it's nothing and I will look like a fool. I don't want to seem like even more of a hypochondriac (because thats how I seem to my PCP). 

I have no idea what this could be if it is something serious...

any ideas?

Daymay, If the nurse told you to get to the hospital right away, I'd take her advice. When you see the er doctor, tell him or her what the nurse told you. If there is nothing seriously wrong, no doctor in the world would fault you for going to the er to check it out, especially after having been sent by a nurse. I hope you'll go and find out what's wrong. Please let us know how you're doing and what they found out. And I hope they are able to get rid of your nausea and pain.

If you have pain every 5-10 minutes that knocks you off your feet --- quit reading this and GO DIRECTLY TO THE ER. You could have something serious - like an appendix about to rupture -- please don't wait -- this kind of pain exists for a reason -- it's your body saying I NEED HELP!

I agree with Lynwood do not delay go to the the doctor a rupture appendix can be life threatening or there could be an infection in your stomach. I had a really bad one last year and had to have surgury to have it cleaned out and I was experiencing what you seem to be experiencing now. The er doctor daid I could have died if I had not come in. Please don't wait go if you have to call the paramedics like I did. Keep me posted on how you are.

Yup, if you're reading this, BAD GIRL!  Go to ER.  You're not a hypochodriac if you have actual, physical symptoms, like the runs.  Every doctor will believe you and get this figured out.

Daymay,

   I hope you took the advice and went to the ER and your getting treated properly. Give us an update when you can and take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
