Hi there,
I am so sorry been out of touch. I have been on Tygacil now for the past 3 months. It has been on and off a little due to some set backs. For some reason, I am having trouble with my hickman-central line, it has fallen out twice. Doc thinks I am not producing enough collagen for it to integrate into my body/skin. has anyone had any experience with this?
The tygacil/tygacycline is a strong med-atleast for me. it makes me feel pretty bad. I take 35mg in a 500cc bag over 2 -3 hrs everyday. I take zofran a half an hour before to help with the nausea. about one hour after, I feel just aweful, can't really explain but just bad-malaise, nausea, sick feeling. Finally, I fall asleep and usually feel a better in the morning.
I do beleive the tygacil is working, ofcourse somethings are babysteps but, I have had an appetite-which I did not have before and have gained some weight (in the past year I lost 40lbs), mental clarity is better, energy is a little better-depends on the day and hte stress level.
hang in there and keep searching till you find your answers. Watch/order Under our skin if you haven't already. I learned of 3 children this week who werediagnosed with Lyme, it is so scary. I don't want anyone to have to gothrough this!
