I am beginning to think my husband has Lyme too. I know they say that you get Lyme from ticks, but if the Lyme spirochete can crosss the blood brain barrier and be passed to a fetus, could it be possible that I gave this to my husband? Syphillis has a similar spirochete and is sexually transmitted. Although we did go camping together, I guess it would be difficult to know whether he got it from me or a tick. Shortly after I got my bulls eye rash, my husband got a rash all over his body excluding his face and hands. The doctor diagnosed it as pityriasis rosea and it did look like that but didn't have the typical pattern. I have allot of difficuly waking him, he sleeps everywhere we go. His neck is stiff and he's been complainig of joint pain. He's been suffering from depression since the time of the rash, and has bladder pain. I wonder if he's having sympathy pains or if he too could be infected.
Any thoughts?
I'm sure it can be sexually transmitted. Both I and my fiancee feel certain I gave it to him as well. Your husband needs to see a different doc who'll order an MRI or Spect to look for encephalopathy. Stiff neck and sleepyness are textbook symptoms.
