IS The Rocephin Making me sick

Hi all...

I now have the picc line in because mine has gone to my spine. I have had 5 days of Rocephin so far and every day I leave the hospital I am sick for a few hours after that.

Has anyone else gotten this sick from the Rocephin? This it will pass after a couple more days?

ERRR... don't know how any of you can stand to read my post as you can see mine is messing with my brain as well. I cant even put words in the right order even when I read behind my self to make sure its right. LOL. man! this is bad...

Dont be so hard on yourself, I read it just fine. I think all our brains are working the same way, I had to re-read your post to figure out what you were upset about. Funny! (: Hope you feel better soon...   D

Hi

I've been on rocephin for about 5 months. When I first started taking it (I infuse myself) I was doing it late morning and would feel sick and sleepy for a couple hours afterward. I slowly moved the infusion time to night and now I do it just before bed so I don't notice I feel sick. I don't know if it goes away because I didn't wait long enough to find out. Could you hook yourself up, or do you have to go to the hospital? It's really easy to do. Or maybe you could take a later appt. time. Just a thought.

I was on Rocephin for about 4 months. It was the worst I have ever felt! I barely got out of bed and my brain fog was horrible. I bacame allergic after a couple weeks. I would break out into hives everyday. They kept me on it saying there was nothing else and gave me strong antihistamines. it was a long 4 months.

I got much better after it was all over. I think it helped. I had alot of leasions in my spine and brain before that. An MRI about 6 months later showed them alomost all gone. My MS Specialist couldn't believe how good i looked. She still won't admit I have Lyme but told me to keep doing whatevere I was doing beacause it is working.

2 1/2 years later I have a Baby who is Healthy and Happy and I feel good. I still have some symptoms if I get run down. I think that will happen for the rest off my life. I can live with that, I still worry that someday it will take over my brain and spine agian.

I hope you have a good LLMD who is supportive. I have never had a Dr closer than 600 miles and have never been able to afford constant care. I would have healed much faster with good care. It is so sad that Drs can be so clueless sometimes. I have lost alot of respect for many of them. I have tested CDC positive by 8 different Labs and still no Oregon Dr has ever treated or diagnosed me with Lyme.

I will stop ranting now. Let me know if I can answer any specific questios.

Hey guys...

Thanks for responding. Cant do the treatments at home Ive been told because my infection is so bad right now in my spine. BP and temp still High.
If they can get that under control He said we can talk about home treatment with a home nurse every couple days. I'm out of work now. I can't believe how aggressive this has gotten so fast this is something I have had for at least 3-4 years and have been tested over and over again. I have dealt with the pain and the fatigue for all this time and pushed through once it went to my spine and brain I'm done. I cant even dress my self without needing a nap.

The Rocephin is making me so sick. I almost didn't make it home today without getting sick. Then slept for 3 hours
I feel it messing with my brain functions. The chronic pain has moved from my shoulder to my neck and my head. It feels like the top of my spine is swollen or tender maybe.

Yes btw I have HUGE hives as well just my arms,neck and face. I had a couple last night on my legs. They do go away but i have showed them to my Dr's as well. lol they just look at them and kind of shrug there shoulders. Guess that's the least of there problems right now.

So you ladies think I will be on this med for as long as you guys? I love how the Dr. give information bits at a time. He knows i will be on this for a while but just keeps telling " Lets start with 28 days"

I'm surprised they're not saying anything about the hives. I had an allergic reaction to one of the meds and was told to stop immediately. I'm sure they must feel you need the rocephin, but maybe there's something they could do to help you.
My doc started with 28 days and added on every two weeks. I just asked him when I could come off of it (because I'm paying out of pocket) and he said we would re-evaluate in a month. Yikes.
I think the doctors like to do it a minimum of three months. It's really helped me. I wouldn't mind staying on it if it weren't so expensive!!!

Yeah they looked right at a good size hive last night in the hospital on the same arm as the picc. LOL they wiped it with alcohol.

OMG out of pocket? bless your heart. Yeah they have changed mine this week from 14 days to 28 days already so I guess I will have to see if they keep adding days on. I am grateful for this picc line. Of course going in was a little sore the first day and 1/2 after but sure but better then getting stuck everyday.
