I am looking for some others to tell me they've been here. It is so frustrating for me. I have been on biaxin for 2 months, plaquenil for 1month, and doxy (switched to mino about a week ago) for over 8 months. My spine has been burning for 2 days now and feels swollen. The center of my gut from mid chest to belly button is burning and I feel nauseated pretty much all this time. My husband says give the meds time to work and I am inclined to think it is die off but DOES IT REALLY take a month for the plaquenil to kick in? That's what I think is creating this flare. I wasn't feeling well after a week or two of the plaq. but this is off the charts. I even didn't take my morning meds because I can't stand what I think is die off. It's too much too fast.

Any opinions?

A friend told me that plaquenil takes 12-16 weeks to start working.  She said her rheumatoid doctor told her that.  I was hoping to see results a lot sooner than that.  My daughter is in her 10th week of that med so we shall see what happens.  I will check back to see if anyone else let's us know about it.  She hasn't had any burning sensations from it.  Are you taking any probiotics?

This update is for future spine burners since no one at this point is posting they've had this. I took one day off all meds and my spine feels almost normal today. My head still feels swollen a little but all in all a better day. I don't know if I'll get it worse or less intense next herx but I thought I'd share the info for the future.

Is the burning more of a tingling sensation? I get that in my back all the time and constantly have lower back pain that never goes away. Did you try a heating pad?

No, it's burning. Like very hot water or maybe even acid being poured along the spine bone.

Yes, the heating pad has been my friend for the last week.

Yes I have had the same problem with the spine. My pain is a low pain up the whole spine with bouts of pin point pain that moves up and down the spine. In other words the pin point pain about the size of a nickle is in differant spots at differant times.
Does it burn? Yes some times more then others but somtimes it feels if sombody is putting a cigarette out in my spine. My legs are in pain everyday. Both shoulder joints are in extreem pain with limited motion. My hair is falling out and my neck is very stiff and sore. For the last month it feels like i am walking on spranged ankles and my feet hurt real bad. On top of it all I have fatige and limited motivation to get anything done.
I dont know what helps...sorry.
