anyone no if infrared saunas are really better for us lyme people than the regular steam, or dry saunas i can use at the gym? none of the gyms in my area have an infrared and my doctor really wants me to use one so i would have to buy one. also- does anyone have a favorite compnay. all the ones on the web claim to the 'best' and bash the other companies saying that the other ones are really toxic with bad wood and glues even though they say they are not toxic. i dont which company to believe. please advise!

A regular sauna heats the air. An infra red sauna supposedly penetrates as much as three inches into you skin. I have a portable one that your head sticks out of and love it! This website talks about some of the difference between conventional and infra red saunas

thanks for the info! i too have read all the stuff on the web about them. but sometime things are not as good as they sound and i really want peoples personal feelings, and experiences, on the infrared saunas, and if they work better for them than regular( steam or dry). it sounds like you have great luck with yours. do you really notice a difference in your symtoms? what symtoms do you have that it helps? d i have very very bad pain. muscle aches and muscle spasms. and extreme fatigue. also i have gained a ton of weight. i just saw the one you have yesterday day. does it work the exact same as the full size ones you sit in. meaning does it have the same kind of heaters as an infrared? or is it more like a hot room? thanks for the post!

I have had mine for over a month and try to use it every day for a half hour. They say the effects are cumulative when using one. In the beginning, I actually felt some additional knee pain. But joint circulation tends to be poor compared to the rest of the body, and I have heard the sauna can actually cause a herx. At a guess, I got increased circulation to the knees and the antibiotics were able to do more and thus the herx. My husband says it puts me in a good mood and loves the thing as a result. I do feel better using it and have noticed a decrease in pain. I am always cold and this makes me feel nice and toasty and comfortable for hours. Plus, the sweating removes toxins and that has to be helping too. If you happen to live in the North Jersey area, I'd be more than happy to show it off!

thank you for the info on saunas! it sounds like it does a lot of different good things for you. have you ever used a regular sauna(wet or dry) and had zero results ?
you are so nice and generous to offer for me to come by . i live in california. darn! if i was close i would have come by asap! :-)

Hi alexa.  I have never used an infared sauna, but I do use a traditional sauna and steamroom.  For me, using the steamroom is very beneficial.

If you want to purchase one for your home, Heavenly Heat saunas are non-toxic, no glues etc and are great. A single person one will cost you about $2,000. Used one for a year and felt great. They are infra-red also. The difference with IR is that they penetrate the tissue where the toxins are stored.  www.heavenlyheat.com  D

I got my infrared sauna from ebay and love it.  The only thing I would suggest is if you are under 6 feet go with the smaller one.  I got the largest one (mine was used) and I have to sit on a folded towel on the chair and I'm still a little short.

KO-LD- does your infrared really help you? and with what symptoms do you notice the most change since you have had your sauna?

Hi Alexa22,

I seem to have more flexibility in my joints and they don't hurt as much.  Also, I am sleeping better than I was.  I am on Zhang's for the last 4 1/2 months so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

The portable FAR IR sauna that many of us have now has helped me with all of my toxin related symptoms, except for the brain fog. It is BY FAR the best $199 I've spent on my LD treatment since I got sick in Jan '06.

thanks! sounds like i need to bite the bullet and get one. i really want a 2-3 person one because i want to be able to lie down(on back knees bent ) so i have to spend a little more. i know i dont have to get that size to experiences the benefits. but whne i used to use one at a health club, that has since closed, i was not comfortable sitting up the whole half hour. i think it is because i was a lot sitter than and just too weak.
i really want one but getting the support to spend the money on one has been tough here on then home front.....
now to pick a company to buy it from.,, oh my gosh!! they all say they are the best and to not get the other guys because their glue/wood/windows are toxic. so i guess any tips on companies would be great now. the good companies and the bad. also do any of you that have them have to do a lot of maintance to keep them going? if so how often and has the company been good about helping with that? and of course i would still love to hear from people who have been helped by them.
