Seeing doctor for first time next week. Has anyone been to him and can you tell me if you are happy with him as llmd? We are making a change. llmd in Ohio is new to this and not well versed on Lyme. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Bev

Hi Bev.  I don't have any experience with him, but I have heard conflicting things about him.  Hopefully others can give you more information.

Thanks Ticker, hoping someone else has some information. My husband was making great improvement in March but starting to backslide and feels he is starting at square one again. He was walking 6 times a day with a walker and now can barely make it once a day. He is on orals now, omnicef and doxy. I know if this was truly ALS we would not have seen improvement at all. That just does not happen with ALS.

Hi Bev.  I am sorry your husband has backslided.  It is great that he has been improving though.  I agree that makes it sound like he is on the right track.

Was he ever tested for the co-infections?  This is so important.  Being co-infected can make all infections more severe, and many doctors believe the co-infections need to be treated first.  Has he ever had immune system testing done?

I hope you like the new doctor and that he can help.

Ticker, No he has not been tested for co-infections and I am hoping Dr. J will do that. It seems many drs don't check for them and believe if you fight the lyme you kill co-infections also. I don't believe that now. I am hoping for some answers and believe this dr has been dealing with lyme a lot longer and will take a different approach. I will keep you posted. I believe he could have babs.
He has had a constant dry cough and low grade fevers which seem to have eased up a little lately.But I don't see how he can be treated properly if they don't fully know what they are treating. Say a little prayer for us on Tuesday. Bev

Bev, I recommend asking the doctor to test your husband for the co-infections through IgeneX Lab in Palo Alto, CA.  They can test for all but Mycoplasma.  Some Lyme doctors use MDL in NJ for Mycoplasma testing.

I only know of a couple of doctors who do not test for co-infections.  As someone who has had several, I believe it is very important to test for them even though the tests are not 100%.

         I have been seeing Dr J for over 3 years and my husband just began with him in Dec. He is very good,in the beginning he is cautious, once he gets to know you he is very open to your input so do your homework. He does not usually test for co-infections bt I think will if you push the envelope. My daughter has been tested for all of them and shows up neg sometimes and positive other times, so who knows what that all means, except more treatment,treatment,treatment.

         Dr J basically treats co's on clinical diagnosis. I hope you like him, after the intial visit your appts will be VERY fast so take a notebook LOL. Good luck and Peace!

Gretchen and Ticker, Thanks you for your good advice. We are anxious to see dr tomorrow. It helps to hear what to expect and to hear from someone who has been to him. I will keep you updated, Does he recommend supplements? Appreciate your input. Bev

He has never mentioned supplements to me except arteminisin for Babesia. Good luck tomorrow and I hope your husband finds some relief! Peace!
