OK so I go to the dr. today after first month of treatment with amoxicillian (initial symptoms started 4/05 followed by severe stiff neck in 6/05 so pretty much know have had for at least 3 years). Only my second visit but I do see a difference - heart is not racing anymore, energy better, but still lingering joint pains, stiffness, headaches, etc. He said he would keep me on another month and "that should do it."
I ask him if everything would come back since I have had for so long and he said he sees alot of patients and thats usually all they need. I did ask him if he believed in chronic lyme and he said he thought it was very rare - that those who had lingering symptoms are usually additional conditions caused or aggravated by lyme such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, etc.
Is this the big controversy???? or are most people in remission after such short treatment? This doctor was recommended by lyme association. Thanks a lot. This site has been a godsend for me.
