Is sunscreen enough to protect when on Minocycline?

As summer is here I'm wondering if my daughter and I are just supposed to stay indoors. We are both on mino.  How long does it last in your body after stopping it (I should call my pharmacist on that question).  Does anyone have experience with permanent hyperpigmentation from it?

Hi believing.  I would call the pharmacist to find out.  I don't know if Minocycline causes the same degree of sun sensitivy that Doxy does.  Doxy can cause severe sun sensitivity to the point that some people on Doxy get burned knuckles from the sun coming into the car when they are driving!  Doxy can also cause the skin to feel prickly in the heat.

I recommend finding out first so you and your daughter do not get a severe burn.

Hi, I am on Tetracyclin and even with sunscreen I burn a little. Like Ticker said I even burn when Iam driving in the car. I still go to the pool and go outside but I put sunscreen on a couple times, and put on a hat. My Dr. also told me once you stop Tetracycline it stays in your body for 3 days. Not sure if that is the same for Mino.

I have been on Minocycline for 3 months. I am fair skinned and have been in the sun with absolutely no problems.

Last year with Doxy, I did have to be careful with the sun for sure.
