Denise, I'm sorry for your loss and so sorry that things were handled in a way that left you and your mom feeling left out. As someone else said, you really don't need the ashes to visit your brother. Is there a place that was special to him, or perhaps someplace you all spent time together as a family? That can really help you to renew your memories and share them. A memorial to the group of your choice in his name is also helpful to some. And others who are computer savvy start memorial web pages where people can sign in and share their memories.

I know it's no help now, but time truly does heal. I lost my own brother a few years ago. I still think of him often, but now I remember the good times and I can move on.

Hold tight to your mom. There's nothing harder than losing a child.

So sorry for your loss. Perhaps you could have your own memorial service, in a special place your brother liked. Those we love live thru us in our hearts.

I too am sorry for your loss. Like Lyme, our lives will never be the same, yet we continue on the best we can.  You and your family will be in my prayers.

Denise,

Sorry to hear of your loss and for your mother who must be having a hard time coping with the fact of losing a child. That can't be easy at any age, and you feel responsible to help hold her together while going through your own grief. I couldn't imagine losing either of my brothers, as they are both younger than me too. It doesn't make it easier dealing with this difficult sister in law. I pray that you and your mother are able to find some way to find peace in all of this.
