possible lyme?

im a 24 year old male who is worried i have lyme disease,heres my story,about 4 months ago i got bit by a tick on the backside of my thigh i didnt know he was in there for a while and when i pulled him out i didnt think much of it,about a month after that i had a severe panic attack out of nowhere which i had when i was younger so i didnt think much of it until the next day when i woke up and felt really weird and ever since that day i still fell really strange,i feel out of it,dizzy,losing weight rapidly,no appetite,loose stool and i get hot and cold a lot,i started thinking about the tick bite that still itches and swells up sometimes and im wondering if i could have lyme,my doctor ran some blood tests on me a cbc,thyroid and comp metabolic test and said all were normal but i forgot to mention the tick bite to him,he thinks it is just anxiety but i can not believe anxiety can make me feel like this,im scared,run down and have no energy,what do you guys think,could i have this,what should i do first to find out? Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry that your post got overlooked. Since you do know for sure that you got bit by a tick, you may want to ask your doctor to put you on antibiotics. Doxycyline is what most physicians give for a new infection. You will want to ask for at least 400mg for no less than six weeks. You may also want to try and find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor so that you get the correct treatment.

Did you notice a rash at all?

I'm not sure if a Western Blot test would pick up any antibodies at this time. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable about that can help out.

I can't really say if four months is a long time for you if you do have this disease because we are all different in the way that our body fights things off. If I were you, I'd try to find an LLMD and see what he/she thinks by evaluating your symptoms.

i also have been on zoloft for 3 weeks

You should get three weeks of Doxy at 300 mg QD and see if your anxiety symptoms go away. Most docs will give you that much nowadays for just mentioning a tick bite (thank God the message IS getting out). Good luck.

Um, I dont really think it will go away on its own. With all the symptoms you have, you need to start meds and see a good lyme doctor. It takes some people years of meds before they start to feel better.

i had all of your symptoms, i have lyme that came through positive on the Western Blot.. Have your doctor run a Mono test also.. I had mono and the Cmv virus also.. I believe alot of my dizziness and fatigue where from the mono virus called Epstein barr.

I understand what you are feeling. You need to have testing done through special labs. The testing for lyme is not always right. Its important tolearn all you can and see a good doctor. I think if you catch it early enough it can be treated faster. Like I said I have had for 10 years. Its something you want to treat right away.

yes i want to get it treated asap if thats what i have,all we really have around here are back woods doctors so who knows if they will even listen to me but im going to call tomorrow

i had anxiety once that last about 2 weeks about 10 years ago. and i never had any coughing or night sweats. Anxiety with lyme is totally different. you know if something isn't right.. when that happens you need to see a doctor.. you did the right thing by joining this site.. That is basically a huge leap in getting proper treatment..
