i was bitten by a tick 4 months ago and thought nothing of it like usual,a month after that i had a severe panic attack which has left me in pieces since,i have had hot and cold flashes,loose stool,pain in my eyes,poor memory,brain fog,dizzyness,30 pound weight loss in two months and countless other symptoms,i have went to two differnt doctors and told them i was concerned about lyme disease and they tell me it is all anxiety,one doctor did a thryroid test and a complete blood count and said all was wormal and that i was working myself up and i did not have anything wrong with me,i really trhink i have lyme disease but ill have to take their word and believe its all anxiety,i just wanted to thank everybody on here that has helped me through this and i hope the sick people here feel better soon,mabye it is all anxiety and mabye these kind of websites are fueling my anxity but for people that need them it is a blessing,thanks again

can you not seek out someone who knows and understands lyme?

just cause your DR. doesnt believe you doesnt mean its true. they in fact are not the Gods they would like us to believe they are. sorry if this sounds harsh.

if your able to seek out a LLMD plz do so. i am able to see what lyme can and does do to one. its not good either. i have a friend who just may die from this disease why Drs think of new ways to treat her. she is in chemo right now to try to save her life.

someone else from where i live just died a few weeks ago do to lack of treatment. plz do not give up. keep asking till you have your answers. and make sure they are the right answers.

I also wanted to add that my very first symptoms were panic attacks, anxiety and heightened senses. I debated back and forth on whether I would tell you this because of your anxiety but I truly thought you needed to know.

My first symptoms were ridiculously long panic attacks where i thought i was going crazy and was going to die. I would cry all day long for months. worst thing ive ever gone through.

See a psychiatrist in conjunction with a lyme dr for relief from the panic. you cannot think at all while having that anxiety.

So sorry you have to deal with this. Paxil 50MG CR, klonopin, trazodone(for sleep) really helped my panic/depression when i first started with this disease.

Don't do what I did and listen to drs. for 3 years tell me it was "just" anxiety and menopause.  I knew in my head that something was wrong and thank god finally found a doctor who would listen to me. 

Make sure you get copies of your labs cause the first dr. I went to told me everything was normal and it wasn't.  Three bands positive on lyme test but still a negative so everything was "fine." 

Anxiety does not come on suddenly.  Listen to your body.  You deserve it.

i know this is a lyme forum but is it possible it is just anxiety? do you always get achey joints with lyme?

People get many different symptoms. I use to have the achey joints at first. Then over the years it was more symptoms with my brain fog, memory loss, and being confused alot. I dont have many physical symptoms. So i think that it is possible that you may not get achey joints. It could be just anxiety, but it seems you have alot of other lyme symptoms. I would not rule lyme out yet. Did you Have lyme test done?

no i did not,he diddt think it was a possibility,he said every week i think i have a new disease,i have thought i had cancer,hiv,lyme and he said thats how he knows its anxiety,my anxiety started when i found out i slept with a girl who i heard was positive,thats when all this started and has not gone away,i also quit smoking pot after doing it heavy for 5 years and he thinks thats why my anxiety has fired off,i have had some many things happen in my life that mabye he is right

I can see why he thinks it is anxiety. That would make me worried too. It would not hurt to do a test just to be sure. I guess you have to go with what your gut is telling you. If you feel it is lyme than find a doctor who will test you. When did you stop smoking? Has it been a while?

wow almost 5 months. Thats a good thing. I guess that would make you feel different. I think in another post you said you were on Zoloft( sorry if i am wrong) is that helping you at all?

i just started on the zoloft about a month ago,it has helped with the constant panic a little but i dont feel anything like i did before this started but i have only been taking 25 mg of it to start off and im starting 50 tonight so hopefully that will help,i had anxiety problems when i was younger but nothing like this,it happend when i was younger from smoking pot and i never touched it again for a long time then i started again really heavy,pretty much constantly all day every day for about 5 years,i was in a severe car accident in august of 04 and i found pot helped more that pain pills and thats when i started agian,i stopped in april and whatever i have going on satrted about 2 months ago,i dont have good or bad days anymore its just a constant feeling of weirdness,to the point i dont leave my house,spend time with my 5 year old son,or have any emotions about anything anymore,i just want my life back and to feel human again,thank you all for all the help that you have given

Iam sorry that you are dealing with all of this. I hope you can find the help you need. I know how you feel, I to wish to get my life back to how it use to be. I was on Zoloft for a while and went off after 4 years. You need to get your self better for you and your son. I am not trying to say it is lyme, but if you had a tick, and other symptoms I would get tested. I delt with it for 10 years, better to treat it now than later.

We are just all concerned about you. If you would have came to this forum with no tick bite and just anxiety, then we would have all thought it was anxiety. But, since you did have the tick bite and symptoms, it could possibly be Lyme.

Like I stated above....my very first symptoms were panic attacks/anxiety. I was fine one day, then that night I woke up in a full blown attack. I thought I was dying. I had never felt those kind of scary feelings before. I was admitted into the ER for 3 days. My liver enzymes were slightly elevated but they thought it was because of some meds I was on. They diagnosed me with panic/anxiety and put me on anti-depressants and nerve pills. I had just those symptoms for two years, then started getting other things slowly. I never had joint pain in the beginning...ever. Now I do and I can barely walk because I was misdiagnosed for years.

Also, when I had panic attacks, they lasted all day....even on medication. For weeks I couldn't get out of the house. No one thought it was strange that I had these all day long. Finally, it seemed like the medicine was lessening my symptoms a little but I would still have at least two panic attacks a month. One doctor thought that was strange but no one ever tested me further.

Anyway, it's easy to believe and trust doctors. I thought they all knew what they were talking about. Now I am very, very ill and will be driving 12 hours to see a new LLMD because I now have neuro problems.

If you truly believe that it's just anxiety, then go with your gut. But, if you have one ounce of doubt, get tested.
