Main question: Is there anything you can take for Babesia ALONG WITH RIFAMPIN and MINOCYCLINE (which I am taking for Bart and want to stay on because they are working)?
I thought I had only Bart as a coinfection, but now that it's going away, I'm getting Babs symptoms with a vengeance (shaking, chills, sweating, feeling like I might vomit, headaches that hurt if I move my head around too fast). It feels out of control like I am coming down with it very seriously and NEED TREATMENT to keep it under control.
I used to be on zithro+plaquenil and it kept the Babs and Bart under control. I switched to Rifampin+minocycline and then the Bart is going away but I'm having a lot of Babs.
Wanted to ask if any of you are treating Babs or taking any abx that keep it under control while treating Bartonella, or specifically, while taking Rifampin.
Please don't say herbs. I am using herbs (Cowden and gentian and wormwood) and they aren't enough, and artemisinin is contra-indicated with Rifampin because they both activate cytochrome P450.
So yeah - anyone on abx for Bart and Babs at the same time?
And do you know of any contra-indications to taking Rifampin, minocycline, azithromycin, and plaquenil - (all of them)? I have seen people whose LLMDs have them on this.
I have an appt with my LLMD tomorrow and want to know any background info that would be helpful. I might see if I can go back on zithro+plaquenil in addition to Rifampin+mino, because at least that kept me stable.
