SPECT scan or PAT scan

I went to my family doctor and I asked a Spect scan.

She told she can send me only to PAT scan.

She never heard about Spect Scan and told me she thinks these are the same.

But I'm not sure :(

Could somebody tell me what is the difference between these 2 and is PAT Scan good for checking brain fuction and lyme damage?

A spect scan shows "movement" as in blood flow etc. A pet scan is just like x-raying your entire body. If you are looking for neuro-problems you want a Spect scan. Often neurologists will know where to send you to have it done, if she cannot help you.

On the East Coast I know they do SPECT scans at Columbia or Presbyterian hospital in New York. I had my SPECT scan done at West Chester Hospital in West Chester, Pa. which is outside of Phila.

It is important that the radiologist who reads the SPECT scan knows how to read the scan when Neuroborelliosis is suspected.

Much to my surprise my insurance paid for the scan.
