In this article (3rd paragraph) here is the statement.... "More people have died from Lyme disease in the last 300 days than from swine flu. Who even knows anyone who’s had Lyme disease"

Does that get your fire burning or what? I read this in someone's blog and she advised us all to email the editor to give our 2 cents. I am passing it along to all of you suggesting you to do the same.

Hi,

I apologize about the late response. I reviewed both your comments and the
article and I can understand your concern.

However, I must stress that our writer and the paper did not intend to offend
those suffering from Lyme disease or their loved ones. Newspapers - whether for
better or for worse - try and report on what is relevant to their audience at
that time and place. It was the writer's intent and in turn the editor who
assigned the story, to address the student body and community in relation to
the current stress over H1N1. The writer was using a comparison to a disease
that was not widely know to them, not to offend sufferers of that disease, but
to try and demonstrate the lesser threat of H1N1. Essentially they were
pointing out what you, yourself, are pointing out - that Lyme is much more
serious than H1N1.

Again, I apologize for any concern or upset the reference may have caused and I
thank you for taking the time to write The Argosy.
