Okay so my 2nd urine specimen still showed abnormality- high protein in urine- has anyone had kidney issues? i am going to a nephrologist tomarrow... i'm really worried.

Hey finding,

I'm sorry you're going through this. I started reading up on protein in urine and this is what I found below. There are benign reasons that this can happen. Medication can sometimes cause this too. Please know that there is medication to help this condition.

Btw, do you happen to be diabetic?

cajungrl, thank you for your post- i couldn't open the link for some reason, but that was a good idea to post on the kidney forum... i am praying it is a benign reason. I have so many issues going on- it really doesn't make sense b/c i'm only 21 but 2 people on my other lyme forum have kidney issues- 1 had protein show up for an uknown reason and they just mointer her, the other is on a medication for her kidneys...just don't know how you're supposed to treat lyme with kidney crap going on...

also i have not had specific testing done for diabetes but wouldn't my regular blood work show something abnormal? I remember asking about this in the beginning of my sickness and they just said based on my metabolic and cbc it didnt' look like i was diabetic...

To be tested for diabetes, you would need to fast before drawing blood. I'm assuming they would be able to tell if it were high on regular bloodwork.

well my glucose level was normal- but i just posted on the kidney forum- 1 answer- there is a med to control protein "leakage" but when i mentioned i have lyme i guess it makes it harder to answer b/c it could be ANYTHING under the sun. this all just so odd to me- got 2 answers on MDJunction- 1 lady gets this showing up regularly and yet they have no way to explain it- she has lymes too. Other lady is diabetic w/lyme and has low kidney function and takes a med to help her kidneys. I just thought it was odd that my blood kidney test checks out fine- but i think i read somewhere protein leakage can be a first sign of a problem...
