Lyme disease awareness month "May" will be here before we know it. I was wondering if anyone here has any plans for bringing awareness to their communities?
Last year I made a yard sign, that simply said Lyme disease awareness. I anchored it in my front yard for the entire month of May. I also tied Lyme "lime" green ribbons around the trees on my property. What make this significant is my neighbor is a health care clinic. Every patient that visited the clinic in May was forced to notice :)
This year I have plans to contact my city's parks department, and possibly the mayors office and ask for permission to place Lyme ribbons on the main boulevard in our city that is lined with many trees. I'm not sure the response I'll receive, but it can't hurt to ask.
I know it is still early, but the key to preventing other from suffering from this horrendous disease is awareness. If you have the time and strength, please do what you can to bring awareness, and advocate for us all.
Best wishes

I ordered a few lapel pins, which I and my good friends and family plan to wear in May. I hope I'm allowed to post this site, in case anyone's interested in getting their own:

I am writing an article for the University newspaper. It'd be nice if I could sort out a way to show Under our Skin, but I don't think I'm going to be up for organizing that.
