Don't wait for a test for reactive hypoglycemia, do it yourself. Actually, since the treatment is dietary changes, make the changes for a month and see if it helps.
You can do some online research to plan your diet. I've found it is best to eat every two hours from as soon as you get up until you go to bed. At the beginning of my treatment, I put a protein snack on my nightstand so I could eat something when I woke up in the middle of the night. You need to eat a bit of protein, fat, and a small amount of low glycemic carb at every meal. Obviously, you need to keep these more like snacks than meals or you will soon develop a weight problem.
Take the food you would eat in a day and divide it into 8 portions. If you are still a bit hungry when finished, remind yourself that you will be eating again in two hours. The goal is opposite what is usually advised, instead of only eating when you are hungry - you should never let yourself get hungry.
O'douls would get to me because it is liquid carbs. I have a really tough time with liquid carbs. They cause me to spike then rapidly drop and go nuts.
Other than when asleep, never go more than four hours without eating, less is better. You should notice a change within a week or so IF you follow the rules and keep your blood sugar steady.
If you do decide to take the glucose torture test, make sure your doc orders the four hour test, not the two hour test. And make sure you bring a good protein snack for after.
