Ever since I have been taking Flagyl I have bad leg pains, they seemt o be worse at night. I go from one side to the next side all night with this aching pain. Wondering if anyone else experienced this from Flagyl???

Hmm. Flagyl made my joint and muscle pain a lot worse. I'm pretty sure it was a herx- I am starting to feel a bit better now

Oh yes, I had a lot of pain on Flagyl. Magnesium helped with some of the cramping and painkillers took the edge off it, but I had some pretty bad nights. Hope it gets better for you soon.

I dont know what I should do. I am taking 250 mg right now and I am supposed to work up to 3 x a day. I had no leg pain before this at all. Maybe I should call the doctor and switch meds.

I don't know all your symptoms, Maria, but the Flagyl really stirred things up for me. My herxing included the usually flu-like symptoms and a lot of pain migrating everywhere. I pushed on with increasing my dosage. It took me three weeks to get up to 250mg three times a day. And after two weeks of that I went up to 500mg twice a day. I've been there for five weeks now. I still have bouts of pain starting in the evenings but today I went snow boarding!

Are any of your other symptoms showing any improvement?

I use a powder in my bath called Batherapy. I get the one with eucalyptus in it. It relaxes my muscles and I feel so much better when I get out of the tub. I think Walmart still carries it if you are interested. It makes a big difference in my pain levels for sure.

achievinggrace, Leg pain was never a problem for me, I was more of the weak, tired, and numbness on the face and hands, tingling in the feet. Oh i did have shin pain. But when I take Flagyl i get such bad aching in my thighs i never had that before. So I called my doctor and he said try one day on one day off and see if that helps then work up to everyday and so on. So last night I didnt take the Flagyl and leg pain was so much better, but now tonight i have to take it. we will see how it goes. My biggest symptome left is numbness on the right side of my face that comes and goes. I am so happy that you are getting your life back. Hope you have a great time snow boarding.. : )

Is the pain on the front side of your thighs about one third the distance up from your knees?

Yes & sometimes it goes into my groin area as well..

my leg pain is mostly in thighs, outter thigh, inside and the lower thigh, and all the from knees to thighs.
when i massage it myself it feels so good for 5 mins, but then it comes back.
i end up sitting mostly and i think that may be the issue.

Hi again Maria,
I asked where your leg pain was because that's where I felt it. My pain went away with the continued use of Flagyl. I don't think it's a side effect of Flagyl but rather a sign that it is working. If you've had facial numbness, then your nervous system is involved. That means not only have the bacteria damaged some nerves, but your body will attack your nerves as it attacks the bacteria.

I hope the pain passes soon.

I have had this same crazy pain and not on flagyl..I haven't even gotten to the flagyl.

I think what had set it off was being on raw food fast with wheat grass and wheatgrass
enemas.
that was bout a year ago.

also right now my doc has me on NO MAGNESIUM. he doesn't even want me to put it in the tub now. (now that I just stocked up on 6 bags)

For me this sauna with the ozone is helping keep so much pain down. I wonder if it would be really helpful with out any ozone. I think so. The sweating is really key.

I'm ready to join the gym just for the sauna.
I'm not ready to go back to hot yoga yet but I hope so in 2 months.

So Ria, where you on other abx before the flagyl? is this at the end of the list? do you know which infection it specifically treats?

I have to take it for amoebia fragialis parasite and almost did but my other lyme doc said NO WAY now and I would get way too sick from flagyl because of my liver.

this parasite is common with lyme i was told by the homeopath here too.

achievinggrace Thank you, but i never ever had leg pain before the Flagyl so im not sure its from the lymes, when i dont take flagyl i dont get the leg pain, and I have been on a few different antibiotics for the past 18 mths so I really think it's the flagyl but hey I will wait and see.

I'm doing Ok. not ready for snow boarding but my head is good.

Those Phantom pains coud be from flagyl getting to it.

It has definitely happened when I did drastic fasting stuff with wheat grass. It was scairy.

The shin pain freaked me out too. who get's SHIN pain . or mid thigh pain?? so bizzare.

I also remember my brain short circuiting. I felt like I was really having a neuro nightmare cause nothing was
muscular. all neuro.
