I met a woman today who has lyme for 7 yrs ever since she got a blood transfusion. anyone ever hear of that?

Yep! My first LLMD, DR. C, in MO, told me he suspected that I got Lyme disease from a blood transfusion I got from a botched surgery in 1994. He really believes that's how I got the disease. I believe him.

Yes, I was just reading that Lyme disease is in the blood supply! Scary thought!

Yes, this is possible. My Mom was talking with someone who works at a local blood bank and the person said that they don't bother to test the donated blood for Lyme because the CDC says it is "rare" in this area (Pacific NW). Scary!

And if they do test they probably use one of the more unreliable labs. Both Quest and Labcorp came back completely negative for me (only + for co-infection). Had to go through Clongen

Gamma globulin injections are also at risk for carrying disease. I had those injections for almost a year and was told there was no was to "sterilize" them as that would remove the benefits of taking them. Alot to think about when there are SO many diseases, viruses, etc out there.   D

what do you get gama globulin injects for?

I been getting glutathione 4 days a week in my IV

Lyme Disease & other TBI's are NOT tested for in our blood supply in this nation! There have been studies showing that you can get a TBI from the blood supply & from transplant surgeries as well.
I agree with Nasalady ~ quite scary!!!
