How are you doing? I'm sure it is possible but not proven yet. Ticks give us Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia and Ehrlichiosis. In my opinion, I do not see why a flea, mosquito or any biting insect couldn't give us these same things. Scientists once thought that a mosquito could not carry any infection, yet now they can give us west nile virus. Kittens can also give you Bartonella from scratching you. It's also called cat scratch fever. I think that is where I got it. I kitten I had taken in scratched me by accident and I remember feeling really achy and flu-like for the next few days.

Would you mind posting links to this please? I was never asked if I got bit by fleas by my LLMD. He asked if I ever got bit by a tick or got scratched by a kitten. I'm asking because I was bit by fleas many, many times. I still think the Bartonella came from the kitten since I got the symptoms right after, but I'd still like to read up on the flea transmission since this is the first I've heard of it.

I know that I have bartonella. If you read the nih article, it mentions that one of the patients had a wet mount done that showed coccobacilli. I had a wet mount done through Clongen and I had the same result. There is just not sophisticated enough PCR to show which strain you have.

I definitely think more LLMDs should do wet mounts instead of clinically diagnosing it.

I am going to read the links . I want to know the different strains of bartonella and exactly where it effects our brains.

I am thinking that bartonella is a big anxiety causer. and I think other coinfections are too but I want to know for now specifically about bartonella because I think this flee thing is totally right on and is major reason for people being on so much zanex.

I wake up in middle of night sweating and climbing out of my skin. I have never taken a zanex in my life but I do take 5mg oxy for pain.

sot the crazed feeling does get under control by taking a oxy. But when trying to stop taking the pain meds and I have the pain under control this insane thing starts in middle of day if I go into a supermarket I completely FREAK out . I used to make faces and talk to myself.

My drug for everything is oxy 5mg pills. other than that it is hydrocortizone. for adrenals and pain.

I just realized this year that i have been having panic attacks and never knew that is what it was. People would talk about having panic attacks all the time and I would say ' Oh thank god I don't get THEM!" But now I am finding out these episodes I am having is panic attacks
or anxiety. I used to say..no I don't get anxiety ..I just get pain.

i don't want to get hooked on another drug so won't take the zanax. Is there anything else anyone takes for that thing that happens in middle of night that wakes you up as if you are under an attack???
I used to think it was a sugar thing and keep a watermellon in fridge ready for me to smash my face into at around 2am when this would happen. It's like waking up from worst nightmare and then afraid to go back to sleep.

From everything I've read, it does seem that Bartonella causes most of the psychiatric issues of lyme and company. My first symptom was a panic attack. I'm 30 and had never experienced one before. about 5 weeks later I was diagnosed with lyme, followed a few months later by Bartonella.

My LLMD ordered a bartonella henselae test from Labcorp. I think you can order certain PCR tests from Igenex and/or Clongen. Again though, I would ask your doc about a wet mount (or sometimes they are called manual blood smears). A microbiologist looks at your blood through a microscope and reports on any bacteria they see. Bartonella can be intra or extra cellular and they will be able to tell you that on the report.

After I had mine done I called and spoke to the PhD that runs the lab. He was very helpful at answering questions. He said he sees these bacteria in the blood of many lyme patients. He said if you see bacteria in the blood of a patient you would expect this patient to be severely ill and hospitalized (ie sepsis). However, it appears that Bartonella can invade the bloodstream without causing that kind of distress.
