Feeling Nauseated

I Feel nauseated since yesterday when I got the picc line inserted.  I let it go thinking it was my nerves and they got the best of me.  However, today I still feel sick to my stomach.  I called the hosptial and they said that the picc would not cause the nausea.  I feel scared now because it did not start until I got the line.

I'm waiting for Dr. office to call me back...I just want to make sure everything is okay.  I wish the nausea would go away.

nausea...no cramping. I have felt it for two days now. I can barely get food in me.

Hi 3, I'm an RN and the PICC line itself or the procedure shouldn't in theory cause nausea. If you were having some type of reaction to the line itself, it would probably be around the insertion site and up the arm along the vein it's in.

Have you been on any oral meds or supplements? I would have to agree with IH8ticks. It's probably a combo of things; Lyme, Lyme nerves, maybe eating things your stomach can't handle right now, etc.....

Maybe try Milk of Magnesia or Mylanta. These would be my first choice. And keep trying small amount of fluids every 20minutes or so to keep hydrated. Many Lyme patients have gluten-intolerance (can't digest wheat), low stomach acid and many different intestinal imbalances. You should have these checked. Hormonal imbalance is common too; they can cause nausea.

No preganacy...had a hysterectomy.

I do think my nerves are playing a role in my gut issues. This has been a stressful week so far.
picc line inserted with no numbing medication due to allergies really stressed me out
Extreme anxiety over the antibiotic...scare of my reaction...since I have sensitivities

All I can say is I'm looking forward to getting well. I'm trying to stay focused on the end result.

I did call my doc and he said it should pass in a day or two.

Roses, I'm very sorry about how you are feeling. And 3 days is a long time to stay nauseated!

Strange -- I came here to post the same thing -- well, almost. I do not have a pic line, but started abx about 3 wks ago. The nausea does not seem to be related to the abx -- I laid off a couple of doses and still had it. Comes and goes.

After 3 years into Lyme and before abx-- have been losing appetite, no desire to eat (but do). Stomach is distended and now nausea on and off. Won't be seeing doc for awhile. Babs and LYme. Do I need to be concerned about liver or spleen or anything like that?
