Hi seekingbalance,
To this day, I do not understand how a doctor can call themselves "lyme literate" if they do not address detoxing. That's half the battle in getting better! I just shake my head...
As far as what I did, it's pretty simple: I bought Dr. J's book (at that time it was his first book which is not available anymore) and followed his "healing at home" protocol.. I took his botanicals and detoxed. Taking the botanicals was the easy part, it's the daily detox baths, dry skin brushing, detox foot baths, coffee enema's, etc. that takes work and time.. After suffering from chronic lyme I became totally symptom free after doing Dr. J's protocol which took about 8 to 10 months (I didn't keep a log).
To this day I still detox because I believe we live in a toxic world, the air we breath, the food we eat, the products we put on our skin, cleaning products, etc. We are surrounded by toxins everywhere!
Right now I am taking natural hormone supplements since I entered menopause (not lyme related). I am 53 and entered full menopause about 4 months ago and was suffering from hot flashes, fatigue, and all the other wonderful symptoms that is part of menopause, yeah! Saw a doctor that specializes in menopause, and she put me on these supplements after testing me extensively which are helping me so much, thank goodness! Menopause is not fun!
