Every time I buy a bag of lentils, I find entire wheat kernels in the bag! I'm convinced that there are only a few main lentil distributers and that the lentils are being bagged under multiple brands. I'm afraid to buy lentils unless I know they are certified now.

ROse, can you do smoothies? Smoothies have literally been the ONLY thing I could ingest for days at a time and they keep me going, without requiring much thought. I simply blend a bunch of fruit, some greens, and water(or coconut water) in the blender and voila! You could add specific oils, spirulina, maca or other powders if you want...though I never remember to, lol.

Does someone have a link for this stuff? I am very intersted...though I am on abx, I also do herbal/natural things in conjunction with them...I would like to find out more about this...

I do "eat" smoothies. One is a green drink and another is called ClearVite. I add in all sorts of capsules I can't swallow, too. Can't do fruit. Also have "Popeye Soup" from pH Miracle diet from time to time. What is maca?

My problem is days like today, I had ClearVite shake for breakfast, and now it's 1:40 and I can't figure out what to eat, that I want to eat, for lunch. Everywhere I turn, something is labeled as bad.

I have been on Byron White's A-Bab for about 4 weeks. Yesterday I got up to 10 drops and today I felt herx-y and think I will skip the 2nd dose this pm. That being said it is very much helping me. I had to stop Biaxin and Omnicef--14months-- from candida, so this and an occasional Diflucan (vitamins also)--3 Laktoferrin at night and I'm feeling 100% better. I will stick with this formula and hope to introduce the others soon. I recommend highly. You need to get these preparations from a health practitioner.

thats awesome to hear that someone else is feeling better on them! I'm so excited to get through the treatment that I feel like I need to push through when I feel a herx and keep up-ing the dosage. My naturopath keeps reminding me to have patience. after 10 years and nearly half of my life with lyme, I don't have any more patience!

I do not have a problem eating, I can eat the same thing for 2 days. I started to have breakfast, although I was never a breakfast person. My problem is, I look around and I KNOW I should not be eating most of the stuff that is around in my kitchen. It got me quite depressed for a couple of weeks, and then I just gave up and started to eat smaller portions of almost everything except sweet stuff and white flower (which I try to keep under radar).

I lost almost 20 lb in 2 months. That's ok, I can leave without, and I can lose another 20 lbs. But after that, I'd start to worry. It is hard to find a balance, and I am afraid of the genetically modified foods bec they use more pesticides and stronger ones, as well. I am afraid to buy stuff that has been mixed with other ingredients if I don't know where is coming from(and it is impossible to determine this). I bet a lot of the cheap prepared, cooked or semi cooked stuff is GM, they feed cows with cow meat ingredients to grow faster, fish with fish "meat" ingredients, etc It is something NOT natural about this and I stay away from it, including farm fish. That way I minimize what I don't want to eat. I really feel for you, life is hard enough as it is, and I have to cook for my family, they want to eat what I should not, and it is so time consuming (+I don't have the energy ) to cook two times, that I give into temptation and eat what I make for them, but I do try to watch what is worse for me.

Interesting about the Byron White Formula's! It's good to know there are options!

I am on A bab for about 3 weeks. I only made it to 4 drops 2x a day. I got a lot of GI issues and LLMD said to cut back. I was so very doubtful that this would do anything. I was wrong.

LLMD said I had a classic herx from it.

it was 100 bucks for the bottle and it will last months.

how is everyone doing on this

i've been heavy on supporting the detox and helping things flush out before I get a full herx, so i'm sailing right though and getting stronger each day. Its amazing! I've been on it since the first of october (exactly 3 weeks today) and i'm at 9 drops 2x a day so far.

Interesting, merrygirl. The problem I have with herbals is (IMO), if you don't take enough, you are not killing ALL bacteria and in that case, it may build up again. I guess that is the risk with abx as well... Are you taking anything else, or just A Bab? What is it for, is it treating Lyme or Babesia?

My LLMD said the A-Bab is formulated for babesia. I'm wondering if I'm having a herx from it, or just experiencing amplified symptoms as part of the natural fluctuation of things. Lots of cardiac issues. I got to 13 drops and have gone down a drop a dose each day until now I'm at 9 and still having issues. I've never been clear how to differentiate a herx from "symptoms." Is a herx always flu-like achiness, or can heart rhythm problems be one?

for the challenge you ramp up a little faster than you would go for treatment. So I think I started at 3 drops 2x a day and after 3 days increased to 4 drops 2x a day. once you herx the goal is to not herx again but get better gradually. That is what my llmd said. So if you are having a symptom flare you are supposed to cut back. I was at 4 drops 2x a day and having horrible chest symptoms, diarrhea and nausea. Called the doc and they said that was a classic a-bab herx and to go to 1 drop 2x a day.

Thanks for sharing that information.  That helps a lot my understanding of what might be happening.  I had thought since I made it to 13 drops before i started having symptoms, that 12 would be my number.  But now that I am having symptoms, it seems I need to go a log lower to get away from them.  Maybe it's a good sign, though, that this is working.

Moral,

How do I know if the tinctures I use have ethanol (and thus corn/gluten)?

My tinctures say "grain alcohol" - is this ok?

Corn is one of many grains, so grain alcohol could be either corn based or wheat based (or any other grain.... but corn and wheat are the most common). Ethanol is the most common grain alcohol used in tinctures because high concentrations are preferred and corn is the easiest to make into a high alcohol content.

If you have celiac disease, unless an alcohol or vinegar is at least triple filtered, you are still getting enough gluten to cause problems. Most celiac's don't react to the gluten in corn however, only the most sensitive ones do.

not anywhere I can find them. Yes, lentils themselves are gluten free. But most of the lentils in the US are packaged in the same facility, and they also process wheat kernels in that facility. Every time I have bought lentils, there are wheat kernels IN my lentils!

MoralAnimal, I see your point. Didn't realize you were speaking of where they are packaged. Have you gone to celiac.com to the Gluten Free Mall link and looked around over there?

I have. They focus on specialty products. I found an internet vendor at one point, but i dont feel comfortable buying food online and also paying shipping. So, ive been just going without.
