born with lyme disease?

Does anyone know if it is harder to diagnose if you were born with lyme disease. My son is 19 and I am wondering if he has had lyme ever since he was born. He came out screaming and didn't stop for the next 4 months. He had terrible collic. He got his first ear infection at 5 months. He ended up with tubes at 14 months. He had severe allergies and asthma as a child growing up. He would always suffer with chronic upper respiratory infections and swollen lymph nodes. He never got a simple cold or any virus for that matter. When he reached puberty things seem to get worse. He was tired all the time and would get infections very easily. He would never get the typical cold. He is now 19 and has had CFS since middle school. He also suffers from a terrible skin problem that causes his skin to itch and hurt at the same time when it is touched. Doctors said he has dermatigraphism and relate it to his severe allergies. My son no longer has itchy eyes, sneezing or problems with his asthma. He mainly suffers with achy hands, skin problem and has to live on zirtec. He was recently diagnosed with insulin resistance and Dr. Burrascano wrote that this can happen in lyme sufferers. His father and I were both diagnosed with lyme disease and we are at our wits end at trying to get a diagnosis. He has tried antibiotics for 3 months with no change to his testing. What to do with a 19 year old that thinks his health issues are normal when they are not.

IgeneX has a challange protocol. too bad most doctors are lucky enough to find IgeneX but don't go one breath further to find out this stuff.


More kids are born with this than any of even us lyme patients want to admitt. It is just too horrible.

This is a plague and if one person in family has lyme it should be mandatory for the whole family to
PROPERLY be tested.

any child with an autoimmune-ish SNIFFLE or who is too moody or OCD should be tested for lyme before being medicated all over in the wrong direction.

Too many kids are on asthma pumps and rittalin.

I can't believe what these parents are going through.

I can't even handle myself being sick. If I had children and was getting this much confusion and run around I would have blow every gasket in my body or even worse.

There is no doubt that the highest spiritual teaching in life has got to be having children.
You have got to have UNSHAKABLE faith.

It is very challanging to hold an entire family together when one child or parent is sick.
The part that takes me beyond compassionate for these families to out right angry at the medical system
in the United States is the obviousness of it all being ignored and that it is not just ONE of the kids.

and I don't even mean about who is paying the bills for meds or testing. that really is the least of it if they were finding the cures. HOW COULD THIS NOT BE THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. what good is a health care plan without no real plan of how to approach this overwhelming plague. It really is the disease of IGNORANCE.

Who is in charge here. Do they really think this isn't going to effect or isn't effecting every family in government and medicine. Do they think this is and AIDS kind of thing.
I know the Kennedy's had to have lyme in their family. and If they didn't then I would like to know why? and if they did I want to know who their doctor was. That whole area is infected where the compound is.

I was infected with at least RMSF at the age of 5. At the age of 44 I received my first round of abx for not only Lyme, but all co-infections. My LLMD had to clinically diagnose me.

I was on oral abx treatment for a full year before I was capable of testing positive.

Have you tried presenting your doc with some of the scientific studies supporting the fact of congenital LD? They are easy enough to find by using Google Scholar.

I wish you the best of luck with your son - I'm certain both of my now adult children have been infected either since birth, or were infected shortly thereafter.

That just may be the million dollar question, Donjoe. Each person has their own unique set of physical issues and weaknesses., so each person reacts to each abx differently.

I was on (I think) 600 mg of Minocin (300mgs am & pm) for a year, as my LLMD believed it to be the best one to cross over the blood-brain barrier with my specific set of symptoms/circumstances. On the other hand, Doxy has been more than enough to rid me of the re-infections I have had.

Hopefully someone here will have a better answer for you. I do hope you are able to get something to work for your son!!
