Hi All!
There have been some discussions here as of late that I have inserted myself into and advising members to not self-treat with animal medications, and to not try to just order abx on-line with out the advantage of being under the "supervision" (for lack of a better word) of a trained medical practitioner.
I have not only owned many dogs, cats, horses, goats, cows, pigs, and chickens during the course of my life, but have had to be my own vet most of the time - with the help of a few gracious Vets who have given me lots of advice. And yes, I have on occasion used some
topical animal meds on myself.
There was also an incident with my hubby that has made a huge impact on my thoughts on these subjects - Hubby was a Master Electrician and he mainly worked the really big jobs - like wiring the head office for a world-wide company (like Farmland- for one), as well as things like Walmarts, hospitals, and occasional drug company's facility - like Bayer Chemicals & Eli Lily.
Hubby was quite amazed by the difference between the precautions that were taken when he would go from the animal drug area to the human drug area. To avoid contamination of the drug, there were all kinds of checks and precautionary things that he had to do in order to enter an area where human drugs were being manufactured, and very little when he would go to the animal drug side.
After working in the animal drug side for a bit, he suddenly started coming up with allergies to things he had never even been sensitive to before.
So my reasoning for inserting myself into these types of conversations serves two purposes in my mind - one I know
exactly how desperate a Lymie can feel, and I sure don't want someone who may or may not be a member here - they may just be reading our posts- to get the impression that Ivermectin for livestock is okay for human use.
And 2nd, I sure don't want to hear that
any member here had to be hospitalized because they ingested medication intended for animal use only - I have kind of gotten attached to all of you!!! I value your opinions or I wouldn't still post my own questions.
Also, as for a person ordering their own abx on line & dosing themselves - I have never thought this to be a good alternative - again, even though I fully understand the desire to use that route- as most people with Lyme & company are not medically trained to that extent. Do we need to be fully aware of what the current recommends for which abx & the dosages that are needed for which ever infection one may be carrying?

open to any questions any member may have to ask!!!
