My husband and I were at the hospital the other day for an un-lyme-related issue. There's a guy in another room around the corner with his kid and we hear this conversation between him and the female doctor. This guy's little girl is visibly ill and he's telling the doctor he just picked a tick off of her that morning. This doctor goes on and on about
how the tick had to be on her for forty-eight hours, the possible side effects of the unnecessary antibiotics, how he can just wait until next week and have her tested and if the test is negative there's nothing to worry about
.
This same hospital sent my husband home nine years ago and our family doctor had him admitted the next day for almost a week. They had sent him home from the ER and he had Lyme, Ehrlichiosis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. They said he was probably taking too much tylenol, that's why his liver enzymes were elevated!
Thank goodness this dad said he wanted his daughter treated for lyme anyway. How many people do they tell this crap to every day and they leave with no treatment! This doctor was really adamant about not treating this little girl. As soon as the doctor left their room, my husband went over and told the guy he was doing the right thing that these people almsot left him die years ago and he's still having ongoing issues and will never be right.
I was so mad about this, how can doctors tell people these lies!!!!!
