Taking Control

Its been a year now since I was diagnosed and treated for Lyme... but I am still experiencing some mystery symptoms.

I went to my Doctor... again... but this time I came prepared with a list of symptoms and theories. I asked if I was tested for co-infections a year ago... turns out I wasnt... oops!!! I also asked if I had possibly relapsed with Lyme again... and he basically called me out on not believing everything I read on the internet. How did he know?

Anyway... he STRONGLY believes my 1 month of Doxycycline killed the bugs. But I wasnt about to go home empty handed again with no answers. So I basically asked for EVERY possible test in the book. They took so much blood my arm still hurts. Testing for autoimmune... viral... adrenal... thyroids... hormones... everything possible.

Not testing for co-infections is strike one for this Doc. If all my tests come back normal... how could a Lyme relapse not be considered? I was told that retesting for Lyme wont work either because I will still show positive even if im not. I am honestly hoping there is something else wrong with me... something treatable... because I dont think Im allowed to use the word Lyme in my Doctors office anymore. He is convinced there is something else affecting me. And if there is a new problem... Im pretty sure it has been caused by Lyme anyway because I was perfectly healthy before.

Im gonna get healthy one way or another... and if these tests are all normal... a LLMD may be in my near future. Im done messing around.

WOW!!  Thats terrible.  I get so tired of Doctors that dont believe you know your body better than they do!! I hope you get your answers soon!!!  And an LLMD is your best bet!!

Please don't ignore what your body is telling you - and read, read, read!! There is an article written by a well-respected LLMD - Dr. Joseph Burrascano- titled "Advanced Topics on Lyme Disease", that explains that the minimum amount of treatment for Lyme that is caught before any symptoms appear requires at least 6 weeks of Doxy - 200 mgs three times a day. By the time symptoms start appearing, the dosage lasts longer.

It would be a definite red flag to me if I couldn't discuss what I believe are my health issues are with my doctor. I wish you the best of luck with your doc!
