about five years ago I submitted bloodwork to Bowen Labs in Florida. My results were in the second highest positive tier, but I was skeptical because the lab had never processed a negative test. Now, however, my new practitioner is suggesting that I may indeed be infected since a few months before the Bowen test, I had taken a high dose of doxycycline for ten days, had severe die off, and was symptom-free (interstitial cystitis) for about a week before the discomfort returned. I'm not very knowledgeable about Lyme---is this lab considered to be reputable? What do you suggest I do?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry you have had such confusion regarding your diagnosis.

Given the inaccuracy of the Lyme disease test, and the ability for the Lyme bacteria to "hide" in the body, the CDC has recommended that Lyme disease be diagnosed clinically.

I highly recommend you seek out the opinion of a Lyme Literate Doctor. Your experience with the antibiotic is more than enough to warrant that. That doctor will get tests done from their preferred lab as well as taking a detailed history.

Hi all,

I am due for some labs, is there a trusted lab or labs that are not referred to as junk lab by the LLMD and Lyme community?

My llmd uses Quest, Labcorp, Shiel and Igenex. He seems to trust different ones for different tests. Sorry I don't know which except that he only used Igenex for the initial testing for Lyme and co-infections and the others for the other monitoring he is doing as my treatment progresses.
