Hi Neurogurl,
Well there is such a controversy about
how Lyme should be treated, you see. There is not a "one size fits all" remedy for the various stages of Lyme disease, the combinations of co-infections and the individual responses of the patients involved.
The CDC and the Infectious Disease Society of America and therefore the insurance companies have not recognized this fact and it is leaving many people undiagnosed and untreated.
The doctors who have chosen to treat Lyme patients, risking their livelihoods and their medical licenses are generally brave, caring people who genuinely want to help. That's not to say there are some bad apple opportunists out there, but they are not the majority, by any means.
What you need to do is to do your research and find out what treatment makes sense for you. The members in this forum have gotten results from all different approaches and I am sure they would be willing to share their experiences with you.
The International Lyme and Associated Disease Society is training up doctors to be Lyme Literate -- able to clinically diagnose Lyme and its co-infections and treat them using a variety of medications, herbs and supplements. Any doctor associated with them will be knowledgeable and will get you on the road to recovery.
